Leslie Cushman and Nancy Laich have been teamed up for the last three years working on small farm property tax issues. Their focus is the current use property tax program and how to make it work better for small farmers now and tomorrow.
Both Leslie and Nancy live in Thurston County, outside of Olympia. They are both approaching sixty, and together have a wide variety of experience working on tax issues, farm issues, and with state and local officials.
Leslie lives on the east side of Budd Inlet on land her family has farmed since 1914.
Nancy lives on the west side of town, closer to Mud Bay, on land she has been farming for over 30 years. Nancy owns her property with Julie Puhich, who owns and operates Common Ground Farm.
Leslie and Nancy invite you to contact them to share information or ask questions.
We invite you to work on this issue with us, and if you are able volunteer your time contacting legislators, other farmers, associations, farmers markets, restaurants, cooks, and people who eat food.
